Two Dishwashers: The Most Efficient Use of Space & Resources
I don’t know how I never thought of having two dishwashers, or how I never really heard about how popular it is until now, but I can’t wait to implement it in my own kitchen!
Nothing bothers me more than people who hand-wash dishes…and who don’t realize how much water & energy they are wasting. I’ve always been a huge fan of energy-efficient dishwashers and now I have reason to like them twice as much as before. According to one study at the University of Bonn in Germany, a dishwasher uses half of the energy, one-sixth of the water, and less soap than washing your dishes by hand.
Apparently for the past few years tons of people are installing double dishwashers in their kitchens, and once you think about it for a second, it makes so much sense…most people take up at least 2-4 kitchen cabinets and multiple drawers to store all of their dishes, glasses, silverware, and utensils, when you could simply have all of that in one dishwasher fully cleaned, and as you use them, they go in dirty to the other dishwasher to get cleaned. Genius. For families you’d obviously still have to use some cabinets for the items that don’t fit into a dishwasher, but you’d definitely be saving space and a lot of labor by using two dishwashers instead of one.
Do you have double dishwashers in your home? What are your thoughts?
